The issue of distance is no longer excuse for luck of communication system. The communication systems have grown form wired devices to wireless devices. Internet has led the rise of modern social networks.
Although with time all generations come to embrace the changes on social networks have brought about, teenagers and young adults are the most fanatic users of these sites. At the current time, spending a lot of time on social media is a routine activity of many young people.
Due to they being easy to access and easier to use in online, Twitter, Facebook and Google news are the most common sites for people to meet and make acquaintance. Using these sites and more enjoyable others are in existence.
Nevertheless, using these networks have both pros and cons. At a glance on positive side, they brought a platform of practicing foreign languages by chatting friends thorough the world in online. They are also a good way of keeping in touch with friends and family around the world. Via these social media, students attend online teaching schools to further proceed their education, widen their knowledge and improve their grades.
Another positive aspect of medium communication is that they made the world one village. Videos conference changed the summits which can take a lot of time and money for travelling.
On the other hand, social media has drawbacks. The major setback is that people may start to lose physical communication and interaction in the real world. Here, people can deceive each other. Similarly, social media is vulnerable for hacking and personal private information can display publically and inappropriate way. Also using long time on social media has negative impact on health. Sitting most of the time in front computers, eating snacks without physical activity and exercise, can lead the user obesity.
In Hargeisa, young generations use social media widely. They use when they are at internet centers, cafeterias and even schools, colleges and universities. In educational institutes, it distracts students’ attention. Really, we use these sites more than as necessary which is needless and a time-consuming.
