Somaliland: Voter Registration Postponed For One Month

Somaliland Commentator – In an unprecedented meeting held at the Presidential Palace, the president of Somaliland, the leaders of national parties and National Electoral Commission issued a joint statement of postponing the election for one month. Waddani did not attend the meeting was so called a free and frank session.

Waddani party vehemently rebuked the delay and opposed the postponement of the voter registration drive. The declaration of the delay has also borne the brunt of populace doubts.

On account of the critical time and the harshest drought ever experienced in Somaliland, the party leaders, the president and the NEC decided to analyze the possibility of postponing the voter registration in a duration of one month. The chairman of UCID party Eng Faisal Ali Warabe, Waddani’s leader Abdirahman Irro and Kulmiye’s flag bearer for the upcoming elections Muse Behi Abdi discussed issues pertaining how a vast emergency aid is conveyed to those people living in the poorest condition.
