Reports confirming the death of the veteran doctor Dr Omar Elmi Dihood have now reached Somali Commentator. Dr Dihood who was a senior advisor for the incumbent president of Somaliland H.E. Ahmed Silanyo yesterday passed away in Hargeisa, the capital city of Somaliland after a heart attack.
Dr Dihood was one of the founders of the Somali National Movement SNM who fought the regime of Siad Barre and finally overthrew him from the throne. Dr Dihood was the mastermind of SNM foundation and an extremely influential member in late 80s. He is noted for his non-stop wars and victories in those wars. Dr Dihood will also be noted for his contribution to hospitals – he was a qualified, skilful doctor who managed to cure thousands of Somaliland citizens.
Similarly, the president of Somaliland H.E. Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo has sent his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and the Somaliland nation at large on the of the late Dr Dihood who passed away in this morning.
President Silanyo said, “Dr Dihood was one of the founding members of SNM and will be remembered as a peace loving person. His untimely death is a great loss to his family and to Somaliland nation at large.”
