Somali Commentator – Hargeisa – Following the suspension of voter registration for four weeks due to life-threatening drought, the incumbent president of Somaliland H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Silanyo on Thursday announced the re-launch of voter registration exercise in Marodijeh region.
At the announcement event, President Silanyo reiterated his dedication and commitment of holding transparent, free and fair elections, on the slated time in 2017.
Flanked by NEC members and senior cabinet ministers, president Silnayo promised that no postponement of Parliamentary and Presidential elections will happen.
Residents of Marodijeh will stream up to seventy wards across the region with all equipment and electoral officers readied. Eligible registrants will vote for the forthcoming elections in the wards, they were previously registered. Preparations of the exercise and orientations still continue in the outlying districts like: Laasgeel, Sallahley, Darasalam, and Faraweyne.
