Somalicommentator – As part of addressing immigration disaster, SONYO along with CARE International have hosted a meeting aimed at getting a better solution to this calamity that has hindered most Somaliland youth.
The three political parties, political and public figures were invited at the meeting.
“This is a national apocalypse which needs the soonest reaction. We are despaired – economically, culturally and socially,” said a participant.
Below are the points issued:
- Immigration and Human Trafficking are national disasters. So the country needs a grand conference for all Somaliland elites of addressing this disaster
- Immigration should be recognized as a criminal activity against human being. Both the govt and the civilians should adhere addressing culprits
- A national Anti Immigration Commission should be established with the mandate of vehemently shunning the immigration and human trafficking.
Every year, thousands of Somali youth embark on hazardous immigration in the Mediterranean Sea. They aboard boats piloted by incompetent, unscrupulous human traffickers, seeking asylum from European countries.
Highly interconnected human traffickers are accused of smuggling the immigrants from certain places.
Finally SONYO urges the government, the political and business elites to ponder this plight and ruminate by employing the competent secondary school leavers and university graduates. SONYO also denounces the human traffickers and sees them as culprits.
